Spud Webb started playing basketball at a young age, and despite being shorter than a lot of kids, he still found success on the court. When he was just 5’3” tall he was able to dunk a basketball. As a senior at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, Webb averaged 26 points per game. He began his college career at Midland College, where a game-leading 36 point performance in the junior college national championship game helped lead Midland College to a 93-88 double-overtime victory for the title. Webb was also named a NJCAA All-American. His junior college success and 42 inch vertical earned him attention, which landed him a spot on the North Carolina State Wolfpack. In his senior year, Webb averaged 11.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 2 steals per game while leading NC State to the ACC regular season title and an appearance in the Elite Eight. He would go on to have an NBA career, where he was most known for playing for the Atlanta Hawks and winning the 1986 Slam Dunk Contest.

This basketball is autographed by Spud Webb with a silver paint pen. Webb’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
